Wanda Smith, Atlanta's Radio Legend, Dies; Condolences Abound

Wanda Smith was a comedian and radio host who apparently passed away recently. While working at Atlanta’s V-103 radio station, she became well-known. She presented the show Frank and Wanda in the Morning. She acted in films that included Madea Goes to Jail and Madea’s Witness Protection. She established the charity organization Girls Stand Together to support female empowerment. In 2018, Katt Williams claimed that her husband had pointed a firearm at him outside the Atlanta Comedy Theater.

On Facebook and other social media platforms like X (previously Twitter), tributes have been flooding in. She was referred to as a sister by Tony Luewellyn, who noted that he found her passing to be difficult.

Wanda was referred to as a sister by Toshia Tiller, who wrote, “I know heaven gained an Angel, and you will truly be missed.”

 

Wanda’s colleague Loni Love described her as a “wonderful entertainer” and added, ‘We came up in comedy together and she was a staple in the Atlanta area.”
